The 10th anniversary of the establishment of Afagh University of Urmia was celebrated.

By reforming the structures of nongovernmental universities, these universities would play a greater role in higher education system of the country.

According to the Public Relations Department of the Afagh University, Dr. Ali Ahunmanesh, Secretary-General and Head of the Union of Universities and Non-Governmental Higher Education Institutions, announced in a meeting celebrating the 10^th anniversary of the establishment of the university that  the bill of amendments to the statutes of Universities and Non-Governmental Higher Education Institutions has been submitted to the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution, which will be reviewed at the first session of the Council.

He added: "In a bill presented to the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution, the suffix "non-governmental " would substitute the suffix " non-profit ", and consequently, by modifying some articles of the statute, the possibility of receiving capital and also doing long-term capital investments would be provided for the institutions.

Referring to the quality of education at universities and non-governmental higher education institutions, he said, "students from these universities and institutes are second to be admitted to postgraduate courses after the state universities”.

Dr. Bahadori, the representative of Urmia in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, attending the meeting celebrating the 10^th anniversary of the establishment of Afagh University announced that:

Due to the abundance of resources in the present era, only the universities that are of better quality would last and Afagh University has shown that it has acted properly.

Dr. Pirmohammadi, the Chairman of the Founding Board of the Afagh University, attending the meeting celebrating the 10^th anniversary of the establishment of Afagh University announced:

🔵 Currently, more than 2,000 students are studying at Afagh University of Urmia.

🔵 In 2007, the University started its activities with 100 students in 2 fields of agriculture, and now the number of the offered courses has increased to 46 including 9 Master"s Degrees programs.

 He considered attaining the top ranking position, as evaluated nationwide, as one of the greatest successes of the University adding that in an evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, which was based on 360 indicators, Afagh University succeeded in occupying the first level out of five. This is a great honor for the university and the province scientific community as well.
